Why Healthy Eating is NOT Enough to Keep You Healthy!

I’m going to be blunt here…healthy eating and exercise is not enough to stay on top of your healthy living game. Is it important and needed? YES! 1,000x YES!

BUT, if you are living in a home filled with toxins sometimes those healthy foods aren’t enough to save you. I’m talking cleaning products, kitchen cookware, tuber ware, your deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, make-up, laundry detergent, home air quality…all the environmental things you are surrounded by all day.

If you think about it, you use a lot of the products I listed above every single day. So, every second of your day you are loading your body with toxins without even really realizing it. And TRUST ME, I have been there too and I’m still not perfect. But the awareness is where it can all start to help you improve your health at the deeper level to keep you boost longevity, immunity and so much more!

I want to paint a picture – you wake-up, brush your teeth using Crest toothpaste because it tastes good, throw on your flower infused antiperspirant deodorant, put on your moisturizer followed by your foundation, eyeliner, mascara and a pop of bronzer cause you are feeling fancy today, get dressed, spray your hair with tropical scented hairspray, spritz of your favorite perfume and out the door you go!

I got anxiety just thinking about all the toxins within that simple morning get ready routine. All of the synthetic fragrances in those products (your perfume and hairspray), aluminum in your deodorant, the toxins in your toothpaste just seeping into your body ALL DAY LONG. When you are constantly being bombarded with toxins 24/7 it is really hard for your detox organs like your liver and digestion to keep up and stay healthy no matter what you eat or how much you exercise!

What you use and live in is just as important as what you eat…moral of this rant I just went on lol.

I don’t want to leave you hanging thinking you need to throw out everything, sell your house and live in a tree house. There are ways to make your environment cleaner and safer for you and your family!

Where to start:

  • Read the food labels on packaged foods you buy – avoid ingredients like hydrogenated oils, refined flours, added sugars, canola or vegetable oils.
  • Download the EWG Healthy Living app and scan your beauty products. See how they rank and what might be a good replacement when it runs out!
  • Store your food in glass NOT plastic...especially if heat is involved (NEVER heat up your food in plastic…please!).
  • Make your own cleaning products avoiding harsh chemicals like bleach or antibacterial – start with one and build from there!
