Top 5 Products to Ditch & Swap in Your Pantry!

Going through your pantry can be overwhelming and a little defeating once you understand what to look for on ingredients lists and food labels.

Focusing on real whole foods for every meal and snack is hard. I GET IT. I live in the middle of nowhere and fresh groceries sometimes just aren’t on the priority list which is why I like to keep the pantry stocked with fast, go-to meals for busy nights. I could go on a RANT about ingredients, fast 20 minute meals, throw togethers, you name it. But I want to keep this post short, sweet and to the point to get you started on cleansing your pantry as items run out!

SO…

Instead of canola, vegetable, seed oils use OLIVE OIL, AVOCADO OIL, COCONUT OIL

  • I like to cook with olive or avocado oil and bake with coconut oil.

Instead of basic white flour use WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, ALMOND FLOUR, COCONUT FLOUR

  • Hot tip, if you see the word “enriched” in front of flour, put it back. This means all nutrients has been taken from the flour.

Instead of sugar filled pasta sauce use MUIR GLEN, RAO's or KIRKLAND

  • Pasta sauce is always loaded with sugars it’s insane. Try finding brands that have zero sugars added and come in a glass jar!

Instead of generic granola bars use RX BARS or LARABARS or HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER BALLS

  • Granola bars are also loaded down with toxic ingredients and sugars galore. Finding more simple bars like the ones listed above will provide a better snack for you and the family!

Instead of basic pasta noodles use CHICKPEA, LENTIL, OR WHOLE WHEAT NOODLES

  • Same thing applies here with the word “enriched”. The only ingredient listed should be chickpea flour or whole wheat flour, etc.

I know this list seems simple, basic and what you may already be aware of. BUT, this is a great place to start on refreshing your pantry and stocking healthier items that truly will benefit your body in the long run…trust me!
