How to Start Choosing Healthier Foods EFFORTLESSLY!

There was a point in my health journey where I was just sick of feeling restricted and yo-yo dieting. It literally sucked the fun out of life – want to grab a drink with friends? Meh I can’t because I’m on a diet. Wanting a fun coffee to enjoy while doing your least favorite task? NOPE, this diet doesn’t allow sugar, dairy, fruit, grains, or anything else edible. Pizza date night with your husband…guess I’ll just eat a salad.

Just writing that made the ICK and anxiety fill my body. Anyone else?

I want to share with you little piece of the iceberg that truly helped me shift my mindset around no longer needing to diet and work towards a free healthy lifestyle I actually enjoy (and still do till this day)!

The key: Understanding WTF Food Does For My Body!

When I started researching about what certain foods can do to boost and benefit my memory, energy levels, reducing bloating, clearing up my skin, even hangover cures, my relationship with food shifted. Suddenly it wasn’t just a cheeseburger and fries. It became a cheeseburger and wanting a side of veggies to not get acne, feel bloated or brain fog the next day. I started craving foods that made me feel the way I desired and I enjoyed challenging myself to incorporate foods that made me feel good in every meal instead of just settling.

Most of the time we have NO IDEA what is in our foods…which is scary. Between the foreign ingredients on food labels, the unknown sanitation practices are your favorite restaurant, the oils your foods are cooked in through the drive thru…we just don’t know. So when you start to pay attention, suddenly it’s easier to make the choices your found so hard…and your body actually starts to crave them!

So where do you even start when making this transition?!

1. Just think of ONE thing you want relief around. Whether it’s feeling lighter, bloating, acne, energy, sore joints, headaches, cravings, etc.

2. Once you have your ONE thing, simply research what foods boost my energy levels? What foods are beneficial for brain health? What foods clear up skin?

3. And start incorporating those foods every single day. It may take time, but just taking a step and being proactive in the direction you want to go with your health…magic will happen.

A common “thing” people come to me for is digestive issues which varies greatly person to person. But some common foods that help benefit your digestive system are (to start you off on your research journey!):
