How to Cleanse Your Body Every Morning!

The word “cleanse” gets a bad rep. First things that come to mind are starving yourself, juicing for days on end, sh*tting through a screen door…basically stopping your life for 3 days to a week. Well, I want to give you a little truth behind what it actually means to cleanse your body…and does not have to be torturous at all!

There are certain cleanses out there that are WAY more intense than what I am about to share with you and those cleanses should be done with a nutritionist by your side…and you should have a better reason than to just lose weight. Cleanses are meant to clear toxins out of your body, give you a nice reboot in your system so your body can function better! Think more energy, better digestion, feeling lighter…all the good, warm and fuzzy feelings you want!

If you are like me, an intense cleanse can be intimidating and just not your jam. So I want to share with you my daily morning cleanse to give my body a nice boost before doing anything else in my day!

  • Step 1: Give your body 12 hours at least from the last time I ate to the morning. Why? Because giving yourself 12 hours gives your digestion a chance to fully rest and digest before putting more food into your system does wonders! Now I am an intuitive eater so if I’m starving before these 12 hours are up in the morning, I eat something guilt free and suggest you do the same! There is no sense in torturing yourself and your body…honor what it needs!
  • Step 2: WATER. First thing in the morning it’s time to hydrate. You have gone many hours without water and your body has been working hard all night…give it that glass of water it deserves!
  • Step 3: Hot lemon water. While enjoying your glass of water, heat up water and squeeze 1 full lemon slice to half a lemon into your hot water! This hydrates your body, flushes out toxins, aids in digestion and so much more! Trust me…this simple concoction is worth it! Once you drink your hot lemon water wait at least 15 minutes before Step 4.
  • Step 4: 8-16 ounces of celery juice. As you might know…I am a huge fan of celery juice! It healed my digestion like nothing else ever has! So, 15 minutes after your lemon water, enjoy your celery juice to continue flushing your body aiding your liver, digestion and so much more. Be sure to, again, wait another 15 minutes at least before jumping into breakfast and supplements! If you want more specifics on celery juice read the blog here!
  • Step 5: More WATER or coconut water. If you have a hard time drinking water during the day this morning cleanse is the perfect chance to sneak in a ton of water! I added in coconut water here if you desire to add in for added benefits and electrolytes!
  • Step 6: Cleansing Smoothie for breakfast. After doing a quick morning cleanse like this you don’t want to instantly bog your body down with foods that can be harder to digest or process like peanut butter toast or pastries or even sugary coffee, so diving in with a smoothie is the perfect way to finish off the morning cleanse!
    • Here is what I typically put in the smoothie: coconut water (or just water) for the base, 1 banana, 1 cup blueberries, 1 teaspoon spirulina, 1 handful kale or spinach, chia seeds, ice! **If this smoothie doesn’t keep you full, feel free to add another banana or cup or blueberries OR 1 scoop of unflavored collagen (this is my favorite collagen).
  • I do incorporate black coffee within the regime simply because I love coffee. Just make sure it is a good quality that isn’t processed with molds, my advice…ground your own beans and you will be better off!

This may seem simple, because it really is that simple to do a daily mini cleanse to keep your body feeling at its best and given the best chance to continue detoxing easily with this added support!
