Courtney's Gut Health Go-Tos!
Sep 29, 2022Gut health (in my opinion) is one of the best things you can work on and do for your overall health. Your gut is where most diseases can manifest...so why not keep it a priority?! Here are some of my favorite things to keep my gut happy, healthy and thriving!
Probiotic (a GOOD one!)
Probiotics are not all created equal. You want to make sure you are enjoying a good quality probiotic and if you don’t notice a difference then switch to a different one that does work! I will be going into details on how to pick a good quality probiotic in my new course the Bombshell-ish Gut Reboot!
Celery Juice
If you have been following me for a while, you are probably sick of me saying celery juice…but it works! Celery juice helps your body flush out toxins in such a powerful way that it can heal your body, your stomach, your liver, your intestines, boost your digestion and so much more! It is just worth it!
Walking After Meals
Walking is the most powerful tool you can use in your health journey – whether that’s for weight loss, stress reduction and even gut health. If you go for a walk after meals you are helping your body get things moving and digesting properly. Goodbye stagnant energy and food! Try walking for at least 5 to 10 minutes after meals and see the change in energy, digestion and so much more!
Nostril Breathing
Nostril breathing activates your vagus nerve which connects to your brain to get you into that rest and digest mode. Don’t underestimate the power of breath! I do this every night before bed setting me into instant relaxation helping my body digest.
Electrolytes
Hydration is essential for your digestion to keep things working properly…especially if you eat a lot of fiber! Another way I like to boost digestion is taking electrolytes to ensure dehydration doesn’t happen…you need that salt! Some of my favorite electrolytes are LMNT salts, pink Himalayan sea salt in water or coconut water!
Ginger or Dandelion Root Tea
Both of these teas are amazing at aiding in digestion and getting things moving. If you want to learn more about specifics, here is a blog post on Herbal Teas to Keep Your Gut Happy!
Digestive Yoga
I use digestive yoga when I am experiencing a lot of bloating, gas or constipation. The poses used are meant to aid in getting things moving or broken up down there which I love. It’s not an instant relief but typically in the morning I feel the release needed to get things moving again. YouTube is FILLED with digestive yoga videos so just search and find one that fits your needs!
