Bloating...You're The 15-30%

You are not alone with feeling bloated my friend. Did you know that 15-30% of American’s experience bloating regularly? NOT FUN. 

So what is bloating? Most of the time, yes, it is intestinal gas build-up, but that’s not the only cause. Bloating can be signs of IBS or IBD or other gut disorders. BUT back to what we were talking about…the real reason you are still reading is because you want the WHY. WHY T.F. are you bloating? Well:

  1. It could be simply the foods you are consuming. Most irritable foods that create bloat are fried foods, too many carbs, processed foods or even overeating. If you think your bloat is deeper than these foods, it certainly could be! Too much fiber and not enough water, dairy products, legumes, nightshades, etc. can all cause bloating as well.
  2. Your poor gut microbiome is imbalanced. What I mean by this is that you’re the “bad” bacteria is overruling the “good” bacteria. This imbalance can cause yeast or fungi overgrowth in your small intestines prohibiting you from digesting or absorbing nutrients properly therefore causing bloat.
  3. Your stomach acid could be lower than the lowest limbo you have ever done. Low stomach acid makes it hard to break down protein which means the food sits undigested in your stomach longer or even passes through the intestines undigested (ew I know) which causes bloat. You will know if this is you after eating a high protein meal, if you burp a lot, etc.

So I now that you have all the dirt, now it’s time to hand over some solutions to provide relief for bloating:

  1. Activated Charcoal. This is my go-to on the nights that bloat happens. What it does is absorb the gas in your intestines so you can feel relief and eliminate it from your body. This is my go-to Charcoal Powder. When it comes to supplements please ask a doctor before use.
  2. A GOOD Probiotic. This good be a whole other email (coming soon) but make sure it is a probiotic with bacteria, not in gummy form, researched, and 5 billion CFUs. Here is a reliable Probiotic. Probiotics give your gut the good bacteria it needs to better break down food to reduce bloating. When it comes to supplements please ask a doctor before use.
  3. Nostril Breathing. This type of breath really helps activate your vagus nerve and get your body into rest & digest mode to help relieve or even prevent bloating. When you reduce stress and relax your body will digest better. If you are constantly stressed, not sleeping, tensed up…goodbye digestion hello fight or flight mode 24/7.
  4. Walk After Eating. This may sound simple, but exercise is one of the best things for your digestion to get things moving. If you are a stressed person, walking is the perfect exercise to make bloating and digestion happen.
  5. Trial and Error with foods you suspect are causing bloat. If you know a certain food causes discomfort it is probably best to avoid it or just know what it does to your body. Take digestive enzymes before eating certain foods to give your body a better chance of breaking it down. If you are unsure of what foods are causing the bloat do a bioenergetic scan!
  6. 12 Hour Fast at night to let you body fully digest before the next day. I’m not saying you HAVE to do this or fast…it just gives your body a chance to refresh. You digestive system needs at least 12 hours to fully digest foods from the previous day to feel reset. Doing this may help reset what’s going on and reduce bloating.
