Avoid This ONE Thing to Improve Your Gut Health

I could give you a laundry list of what to avoid, what to restrict, restrict some more, and restrict again…but you know that is not my vibe and I couldn’t even follow that list if I made it!

SO, the ONE thing I want you to avoid to boost your gut health is…DEHYRATION!

I know this seems way too simple to improve your gut health, but your health really is that simple.

Your fecal matter, fun fact, is typically 75% water and 25% solid composition. So if you are dehydrated you can expect potentially constipation, missed bowel movements, discomfort…just not your normal gut healthy life.

What happens to your gut when you are dehydrated?

Your intestines use water to create the proper formation of your stool and help pass it through your body. Staying hydrated helps improve the mucosal lining of your intestinal walls keeping your gut microbiome healthy. SO, if your large intestine doesn’t have enough water, it will try to get liquids from foods you consumed which can make your stools hard, difficult to pass, cause constipation, pain…picking up what I’m putting down?

Moral of the story, stay hydrated! If you are struggling with keeping hydrated OR sweat a lot you need to focus on replenishing those electrolytes as well. Electrolytes help keep your body hydrated and rehydrate it quickly!

Here are some electrolyte drink ideas to boost your hydration and stay on track no matter what:

LMNT electrolyte powders to add to water (absolutely LOVE the raspberry flavor)

Coconut water (do this INSTEAD of drinks like Gatorade). Coconut water is a natural, very hydrating electrolyte option whereas the others on the market are filled with processed sugars which defeats the purpose of boosting your gut health.

Pink Himalayan sea salt sprinkled in your water. Quick, easy, simple and can do anywhere!
